Fit And Rig

The following process flow shows how to fit and rig a static character to to another skeletal character using the Cloth Convertor and Dress3D tools.

Rig Only

This guide shows how to rig a static character to another skeletal character but keep its shape unchanged using the Cloth Convertor, Skeleton Transfer and Dress3D tools through the following process.

1. Convert It To An Interchangeable Cloth Using Cloth Convertor

1. Import

import it to the middle scene using the default import parameters.

2. Match To Its Body Shape

  1. Delete unused parts

  2. Match interchangeable base character in right scene to the body in the middle scene by point and face matching

3. Configure and Process

Set all the old and new "Min Distance for Modifying Shape Control points" to -9 using the "Unify Parameters for Modifying Shape Control Points" button.

2. Rig Its Body Using Skeleton Transfer

Import the body shape (.as) file

Import an existing interchangeable base character with the skeleton you want and shape close to the body of the character.

Transfer skeleton

Export to a new interchangeable base character

3. Rig It Using Dress3D

  1. Load the new interchangeable base character.

  2. Load the interchangeable cloth.

  3. Export cloth to a fbx file.
